How our programmes work
We offer tuition in Reading, Maths, and many Secondary School subjects for children from First Class to Leaving Certificate level. The standard Programme consists of attending classes over a period of 18 weeks during the regular school year.
Children come to Fountain of Knowledge one day a week for 2-hour classes in Reading or Maths (children under age 7 for 1 hour at a time). Attending more than once a week is possible, as is attending for both Reading and Maths on separate weekdays or in consecutive classes on Saturdays.
A child works on his or her own individual material in a small group of no more than 3 with one teacher. A beginning and ending day is agreed. Attendance must be regular to reinforce what is learned and to ensure progress.
Each child's work supplements and enhances what is worked on at school, and is unique to that child. However, each child is a part of a group, and they encourage each other and provide a bit of fun while learning.
Progress reports
During class times, teachers need to be with their students. Parents are welcome to discuss a child's progress with the Directors at any point during the programme. The child is assessed on the 17th week to ascertain the degree of improvement. The parents may then collect the report and discuss whether they would like their child to continue with the same programme or switch programmes.
Holidays
We generally follow the school calendar. We are not open Bank Holiday Mondays; however, we are open the preceding Saturdays.
